CHILDREN LEARN AS THEY PLAY

The Montessori curriculum is designed for preschool and kindergarten students focusing on Play-Based Teaching and Learning, which helps to bring out their various skills like Fine motor, Gross motor, Listening, Speaking, Cognitive Sensorial and Emotional and they are assessed based on these skills. Enhanced learning – XCITE LAB is also offered which helps the children to develop their English-speaking skills, motor ability, logical thinking capacity and mathematical ability through multimedia-enabled environment. The Xcite lab evolves student into a competent learner who is capable of reading, understanding, thinking and voicing his/her thoughts, thus making an independent learner at a very young age.

In primary classes, Activity-based teaching and learning are introduced to give children the optimum learning experiences based on some hands-on experiments and activities. This technique provides the child, the opportunity to explore on their own, where learning becomes joyful and long-lasting. MI KIDS is a phonic-based English learning programme, designed to enhance speaking and reading skills among young learners of class I and II. The interactive classroom with colourful, audio-visual stories, rhymes and songs focus on fluency, phonics, conversation, role-play and vocabulary in children to learn English easily like a native speaker.

EMPOWER THE LEARNERS TO EXPLORE AND LEARN

Student-Centred Approach in teaching and learning is aided in middle school along with multimedia-enabled classes. Teachers still serve as an authority figure, but function more as a facilitator or "guide on the side," as students assume a much more active role in the learning process. Students perform hands-on physical activities. Teachers offer support and guidance as students work on projects that depend on them taking on a more active and participatory role in their learning. Students are continually assessed on activities like group projects, student portfolios and class participation to instigate their creative thinking, logical reasoning, language, researching and analysing skills.

APPLYING THE KNOWLEDGE TO ONE'S LIFE IS WISDOM AND THAT IS THE ULTIMATE VIRTUE

Being the foundation for professional courses, Higher Secondary classes play a pivotal role in the school life of every student. Our school offers groups in Science and Commerce stream. We prefer the concept of Application Oriented Teaching throughout the years. Student's academic performance were periodically analysed by conducting Unit tests / Terminal examinations at the end of every month and based on the results obtained, required solutions and feedback were conferred to respective students which will reinforce their academic part. Special coaching sessions and After-School classes were undertaken to improvise the subject knowledge. Extended training programmes for NEET, JEE, Civil Service Examination (IAS, IPS and so on) have also been conducted by subject experts and qualified professionals in our school campus. With a view to assist the students in making the right decision towards their career by identifying their potentiality, Career Guidance programmes were conducted at a time interval of every trimester.

Prayers with hard work brings victory, this is absolute in the history of Mr. J. Jespher Daniel – an admirable man full of discipline, morality and perseverance. Born on 30th October 1928, in Tirunelveli district, Mr. J. J. Daniel started his life as a teacher in a small school in his home town. While coming to Chennai in 1958, he had nothing except the abundant grace of God. In the initial days, he established Daniel Thomas Matriculation School at Arumbakkam in Chennai with a strength of one hundred students and three teachers. It was only because of his monumental efforts and the family support he extended his service and established twelve educational institutions in and around Chennai and Tirunelveli districts during his lifespan.

Lovingly called as "Founder Amma", Mrs. Mary Ponnubai was born in the month of May in 1936. At the age of 18, Mrs. Mary Ponnubai started her career as a teacher. She was paired in wedlock with Mr. J. J. Daniel and lived in connubial bliss for over 30 years. With her moral strength, support and consistent prayers, Mr. J. J. Daniel has established the Daniel Thomas institutions in Chennai and Tirunelveli districts. Being the mother of three daughters and a son, she loved children a lot and her love towards children had reflected out as Dr. John Douglas Orphanage, where she took care of orphan children till her last breath.

Mr. J. D. Sapphire is a cardinal and renowned educationalist in the city. Being a responsible son of our founder late Mr. J. J. Daniel, he took over the charge at his young age of 20, in the year 1983 and continues to render his remarkable service to the society with zest and zeal. Mr. Sapphire, is a person with an enormous energy level and innate traits of optimism. As far as his concern, the well-being of students and the staff are of utmost importance. Invariably, he aspires to elevate Daniel Thomas institutions as the seat of academic excellence.

Being the Iron lady of Daniel Thomas institutions and with the sole objective of seeing God through the service, Mrs. J. Minvelli Sapphire leads the institutions with futuristic thinking and profound dedication. Heeded to the "irresistible call" to become an academician, she commenced her educational pilgrimage as a teacher at Daniel Thomas Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Koyambedu in the year 1985.

Mr. Jasper Jerome is an ornament to the expertise of dissemination of knowledge. He surges ahead with his mission and vision to impart high quality education. His unparalleled passion, incessant dedication and a great deal of hard work had brought a paradigm shift in education.
